Imperia

Two villages, two harbours, two histories. Oneglia to the east, Porto Maurizio to the west, separated by the stream Impero. They were united in a unique city in 1932, giving birth to Imperia, located at the centre of the Western Riviera.
Oneglia with its harbour, where still nowadays fishing-boats berth delivering their "fishing loot" to the fish auction taking place in the morning and early afternoon under the splendid arcades of Calata Cuneo, a sort of rite for followers, suggestive for the speed and the slang of calls and raisings.
Along these arcades you can find inns, taverns and restaurants with typical Mediterranean cuisine. Luxurious Yachts berth in this typical marina, attracted by the ancient atmosphere you can breathe under the vaults of Calata Cuneo.
Porto Maurizio is dominated by the imposing massive structure of the Cathedral, projected in 1781 by Cantoni and finished in 1838 after long interruptions of the works due to the revolution. The magnificent interior, with a central plant, is articulated by Corinthian columns and houses numerous interesting paintings.

Parasio is the most ancient part of Porto Maurizio, located on the promontory, it preserves testimonies of the medieval age, such some slate portals, pointed arches, ancient coats of arms. In the medieval district you can admire buildings of different ages: Palazzo Pagliari of the 15th Century, Palazzo Lavagna of the 17th Century, the 17th -century Church of St. Leonardo, the oratory of St. Pietro of medieval origin, transformed in 1595, with its external loggia of 1714 (from where you can enjoy a wonderful sea view) and the splendid convent of Saint Chiara dating back to 1365.

Sanremo
One of the most elegant towns of the Flowers Riviera, already known in the past also in Great Britain, thanks to the famous novel by Giovanni Ruffini "Doctor Antonio" is composed into two parts, the old and the new town. The two parts are connected by the Roman road running half coast, where villas, gardens and the most elegant hotels are located.

The pure town was founded in Roman times and nowadays it is composed of two parts that form a picturesque contrast: the old Sanremo, called Pigna, that climbs on a hill dominated by the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Costa and it has the typical aspect of the Medieval Ligurian towns with houses leant against each other, dark passages and stairways.
The modern Sanremo spreads around Pigna along the sea and it is formed by streets and elegant buildings with parks and gardens embellished by luxuriant tropical plants. The city is known for its Festival of Italian Song taking place at the Ariston Theatre which every year attracts famous people and singers, for the Town Casino where you can try fortune and for the greatest Flower market in Italy
